Time marches-on ... although there is much happening, in-terms-of the Seasons of Holy Church, 'twixt now and then, in slightly more than a month, we will return to Trinitytide, the Long Green Season. As-noted above, Rogationtide is hard upon uS. After that, in the same week, the Feast of the Ascension will be Celebrated ~ our Lord's triumphal return to His heavenly home. Following this, Whitsuntide (Pentecost) will come, with Whitsunday falling on the Twenty-fourth of the month. Thence to Corpus Christi, and its attendant Octave, after which, Trinitytide. Again, all of this in the coming month!
In other happy news, Bill Leary, our dear friend who has moved to Florida, now has his first grandchild, a baby boy. Please pray for the continued good health of Baby. Pray also for his mother, Morgan, and her husband, as they welcome their first child.
This-coming Saturday is the date for the local edition of the Walk for Life. We have supported our local Care Net center in the past, and should continue to do so. For more information, please go to: peninsulawalk4life.org.
Also this weekend is the annual Egyptian Food Festival. Despite having been declared heretical by the Great Councils, and cast out from the Church, recent years have seen some attempts at rapprochement. However, sharing a meal is rarely a bad thing.
At the end of the month, the Newport News Greek Fest will begin on Thursday, the Twenty-eighth, and will run through Sunday, the Thirty-first. I usually go twice; we often have a contingent there from S. Matthew's on the Sunday. I heartily encourage everyone to go, and to spread the word! I remain
in His praise,
The Rt. Rev'd T. L. Crowder
Pastor, Saint Matthew's Parish
